Walker Family Fund Update 08/30/2023

Amount Raised to Date: $22,340.00

It has been almost a year and a half since Brody's Lymphoblastic Leukemia diagnosis. Brody has had a long, and very hard road, and though thank the Lord he's still in remission, he has 10 more months of cancer treatment ahead of him. Watching our son endure brutal chemo treatments and procedures has been one of the most heart wrenching things for us as his parents to witness. We could not walk this road without God's sustaining love and faithfulness encompassing us, and without the support and compassion of family and so many friends, and our community and church coming alongside of us during this cancer treatment journey.

Brody has had an amazing summer. He’s been so much healthier and stronger than he was last year! His hair came back, and it is curly this time. He starts kindergarten this week!

We still pay $400 to $700 a month in out-of-pocket chemotherapy expenses. This will be ongoing until Brody finishes treatment next summer. Brody still has Boston appointments once a month at this time, for clinic exams, chemo infusions, and every 12 weeks when he’s at the clinic he gets a spinal lumbar puncture chemo procedure under anesthesia. So, we still have traveling costs to Boston from our home 2 hours away in New Hampshire. I am still home full time with Brody’s 2-and-a-half-year-old brother Caiden, while my husband works full time at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard.

We also know that as Brody’s resuming school, he is sure to be hit at some point with viruses and fevers which can affect his white cell counts and put him at risk for infection. When this happens, at certain times he ends up being admitted to inpatient at Boston Children’s Hospital for monitoring. Last Fall and Winter were very rough for Brody. We are praying for a healthier year, but the reality of Brody being immune compromised due to cancer treatment, makes us aware we potentially face inpatient admissions this school year. When he’s inpatient there are meal expenses for mom and dad.

We thank you in advance for visiting Brody’s page and for your support. We are so thankful for all the prayers, love, and generosity through the kindness of other people, that have carried us along the cancer life journey. We never want to take the support we have received for granted, and someday we hope to give back to others facing a similar journey. For more regular updates on Brody, feel free to pay a visit to his Facebook page called Brody, Our Superhero. God bless!
